not May yet

These heels get so much attention. They are pretty loud and proud. The weather has been so warm, which is great. However, it is totally confusing my students and making them bounce off the freaking walls. They are driving me nuts. It's barely February and they are acting like it's May. Grrrrrrr! Who can blame them, it feels like May.

EBEW Coral Pants

cords: J Crew
button down:Target
top: Noble U
oxfords; Frye resale
necklace: Crossroads
blazer: from Dillards forever ago

Everybody Everywear: Colored Pants. The timing on this could not have been better. Considering my self-proclaimed preference for skirts and dresses, I have been liking pants more and more lately. Heck, I just doubled my jeans collections this weekend when I bought two pairs of jeans resale at Crossroads. So, I was excited to wear these coral cords for EBEW. So impractical. So pretty. So fun. They are coral!!! I was attempting to tone them down with something neutral or plain on top but that obviously didn't happen. I was not feeling low key. I have been doing a lot of layering lately, which tells me I am ready for cooler temperatures. Luckily, in the bay area all I have to wait for is nightfall and BAM! cool weather. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it.

I seem incapable of anything beyond halting, incoherent rambling this evening. Sorry :)

I love love love this tunic. I love that it is a departure from my usual style. Denim and chambray seem to be all the rage this past year and the trend doesn't seem to be losing steam. I am not above hopping on the bandwagon.

Notice the necklace??? My friends at Unpossible Cuts launched their website this weekend. I modeled some of their jewelry for them so don't be surprised to see yours truly hamming it up...yeah, grinning awkwardly in embarrassment would be a more accurate phrase. Go check them out, show some love, buy some awesome jewelry. I have been wearing the seahorse necklace I got from them to death and last night they gave me a few more pieces. The lotus necklace you see here is one, you'll be seeing the rest later. They are in the process of adding everything so check back periodically to see their full line.

self care

top: Lauren Conrad clearance

Why is it that when we are the most overloaded and stressed out that we make the worst choices that just make things spiral further. This week has been hellish. I am done, the kids have been done since yesterday. And this is when I desperately need to get out tension in my yoga class or run around the lake until my mind quiets. And do I do these things? Nope. I work 10-12 hour days, veg in front of Hulu, work doubles, and get around 5 hours of sleep a night. Why? Seriously, self care needs to be brought to the forefront of my life again because as per usual I have shuffled it to the back little by little.

That being said...pants. It is getting warm these glorious, sunny days. I have no idea how people wear pants in the dead of summer. Or how people wear pants when the temperature crawls towards 80. Pants are hot. (wink) I got some comments today about how I was wearing flats and pants and it's not even casual Friday. Yup, when I opt out of heels and skirts you know I am approaching my dark place. Granted, this outfit doesn't scream "dark place" by any means. But it's all relative.

Weekend Fever

Aren't weekend the greatest thing in the whole entire world? Not working on Saturday and Sunday is the best thing since sliced bread. Saturday brunch turned into people-watching on a patio, which turned into sushi dinner, which turned into too much sake and led to a nap. And that nap led to me staying up until like 4 am watching netflix...too tired to get out of bed and too wired to fall asleep. Somehow I woke up Sunday refreshed. I took my laundry to the laundomat and had a latte with a delicious strawberry coffee cake while reading the paper. Spring fever took hold because after I finished 3 loads of laundry I decided to do some serious spring cleaning. I'm not what you would call a big cleaner. I don't clean my apartment every weekend by any stretch of the imagination. So for me to sweep and mop the whole joint is like a special occassion. You wouldn't believe how many times I had to mop and change the water before the kitchen was clean enough. Gross right? TMI? Don't judge alright, it's clean enough to eat off the floors now. SInce I was in a cleaning frenzy I didn't change out of my sweatpants until 4. I go the new anthro catalog last week and will be basing every outfit I wear thru spring on it's pages. One picture showed the model wearing an acid green/chartreuse/ lime -ish (no idea what this color is) with grey capris. Here's my take...

Also, I changed my page so that my labels are visible. I went thru and meticulously labeled all of my previous posts so at the click of the mouse you can see other way I wore items. Hope it's helpful.

I have to say this weather is KILLING me! Ugggggghhhhhh! I wish the rain and gloom would give it a rest! I am so tired of being cold. Tired of sleeping in my Uggs. I'm over it. Unfortunately the forecast for the week says that it hates me because the rains gonna keep on coming. So here is me embracing the cold, drizzily weather. Boots, pants, layers, "fur". Okay, I give in. This is me wearing something appropriate. Suck it rain.

red red red red red red and The Judds

Saturday was one of those really great weekend days. I had the laziest morning imaginable. Judge away, but I spent the better part of the day laying in bed watching the made for TV movie about The Judd's on youtube. During part 14 of 15 of this delightfully awful miniseries, I topped the morning off with a nap. It was fantastic. Normally this "waste of the day" would drive me nuts but for once I just went with it. Yay me!

Around 2 I finally got dressed. These red cords have been dying to make it out of my closet and it is long overdue. Considering I have been obsessed with finding a pair of red pants for months and that I bought these a month ago...it's about damn time I busted them out. I really like the brown shirt and the stand-out polka dots paired with these very noticeable red cords. I went neutral with the shoes and cuffed the pants. The bun and glasses were out of sheer laziness.

Casual Friday

I was not planning to wear anything worth posting today. Casual friday at work doesn't really inspire me. But I got dressed and ended up really liking how this casual look came together. maybe it's the side bun, which has now become my go-to updo. Or this new coral necklace. Or even these newish cords, that I forgot I had. I love it when that happens. You think your outfit is going to be "meh" and it ends up "wow".

California and Wells Fargo

I haven't posted on Friday in a while because I lately have been doing jeans and school sweatshirt, as does most of the staff. But with Friday being my double day, it is just easier to wear as much black as possible. That way I don't have to bring a change of clothes. So today I wore almost exactly the same thing I wore back in November, the last time I posted on a double Friday. ---So I just checked and I have no idea what I am talking about. I have posted on a number of Fridays. I do this all the time, state something completely false as if it is fact. I am rolling my eyes at myself right now. Like the time my sister was visiting and needed a Wells Fargo. I informed her that I was pretty sure there were no Wells Fargo's in California. I'm an idiot because we immediately began noticing Wells Fargo's on every freaking corner of town.

So anyways, I've worn basically this exact outfit before. I just changed out a black cardigan for a black sweater.

still finding my groove

My little blog is still pretty new and I am still trying to find my rhythm. Taking pictures and posting daily is my goal. I just haven't gotten there yet. Even when I do take pictures I don't always get them up.
So here I am, yet again, playing catch up. Loser.
me, not you :)

Saturday was a farmers market, shopping with the roommate day. I intended to buy Christmas gifts but instead went ape shit crazy at the mall. All those sales on clothes and it's so much easier to buy for myself. I know exactly what I want! Boo me! In my defense, I had immediate buyers remorse and returned most of it the next day. Having come to my senses, I then bought Christmas gifts as I originally planned. it was just a temporary leave of my senses. This tends to happen in close proximity to clothing.

That being said, I am officially on a shopping freeze...for myself and clothes. I have enough...for now.

pants spree

This is like a personal record for pants-wearing. Again, I woke up wanting to wear pants. I got this vest on clearance at Nordstrom Rack and it another one of those things that I don't wear often. I like it with these pants though.

I rushed out the door this morning so these pictures are taken at night, inside. Most I'm looking away because I had red-eyes in all the others. I did the red-eye remover but then I just looked like a demon or vampire or something.
