Festive

skirt: resale
top: Old Navy gift
sweater: Old Navy
necklace: Premier Jewelry gift
pirate bunny pin: [un]possible cuts
wedges: Target sale

I look ready for St Patrick's Day, don't I? I have this think that I don't even think I realize I do, where on holiday weeks, I dress up for that holiday all week long. On the week of Valentine's Day, I am pretty sure I wore some version or pink or red every single day. The week leading up to St Patty's, I, all of a sudden, rediscovered every green item in my closet.
Easter's approaching. Pastels, I'm coming for you!

90's "vintage"

shorts: Forever 21
top: super old

tights: Kohl's
platforms: Blowfish resale
mustache necklace: [un]possible cuts

This was one of those lovely, warm days recently that I just enjoyed because I knew it wouldn't last and that this late in the year we were lucky to have. I have worn this little floral crop top a bunch but I don't think it's even been on here. I love it because it is something I got back in high school, though back then I probably wore it with low rise shorts or something equally horrific. Pretty sure I bought this at Gadzooks...remember that place?? So, anyways, I lost some weight a year or two ago and decided to pull out some clothes I had stored away and hadn't looked at since before Peace Corps. sigh. Such a girl thing to do. Lose a few pounds and pull out your high school clothes. God I'm cliche. Well, surprisingly this top fit. Not sure how since when I rocked it back in the late 90's I was tragically flat chested, and now I no longer have that problem. But it fit and actually fit into my wardrobe of high waisted skirts. So here it is. Is 90's clothing vintage yet?

not May yet

These heels get so much attention. They are pretty loud and proud. The weather has been so warm, which is great. However, it is totally confusing my students and making them bounce off the freaking walls. They are driving me nuts. It's barely February and they are acting like it's May. Grrrrrrr! Who can blame them, it feels like May.

If you have time, go to the Warby Parker facebook page and help me decide between the frames I got in the mail yesterday. My friends have all weighed in and the almost unanimously chose my least favorite. So now I am quite, thoroughly confused.

seahorse love

dress: vintage Gumps
cardigan, belt: Target
shoes: Seychells's Hawk wedges
nails; idea from The Beauty Department

Do you like my amazing necklaces???? My friends made them. Stay tuned for more info. They are in the process of getting their site and business up and running. I can not wait to see what other fun and quirky designs they turn out. Yay!

This dress is officially my "don't I look like a teacher" outfit. I wore it for an interview last week and then I wore it yesterday on the first day of summer school. I got the job so I am going to assume it's sending the message I want it to send :)

The nails for a first attempt. I did it straight from the bottle using the brushes they come with. All of the colors are from the drugstore and cost like 2 bucks pop. Next time I thing I will use a toothpick to get more detail. If you haven't checked out The Beauty Department, go now!! You can thank me later.

You're welcome.

update: My friend's website is is up and two designs are posted so far. Show them some love. Unpossible Cuts

EBEW Floral

dress: Vintage Gump's
cardigan: Target
necklace: Crossroads
shoes: BCBG from Nordstrom Rack

I have been wearing a ton of floral the past week or so. Like every day. Many have not made it online but I will have to do a post devoted exclusively to the floral I have been obsessed with.
Today is the Everybody Everywear floral challenge. I decided to wear a new vintage dress that I splurged on from a resale shop down the street. It has GIANT poofy sleeves that I have temporarily cut until I can take it to the tailor to have them professionally altered. As of now I've cut the elastic off the sleeves and have the huge excess of fabric knotted under the arms. This is why I have to wear a sweater with it.
How ridiculous and awesome are these shoes? I have not worn them since a post last fall titled "Pole dancer from the Hamptons" They are too large and in charge to wear more often. Even someone who wears heels everyday could kill herself in these shoes. But they are pretty.

saved by the season

Oh my gracious, today was the hottest yet! I love it! Bring on summer and more importantly, bring on summer vacation! This dress is an item that I bought a few years back and had been on the verge of getting rid of, then I rediscovered it and saved it from resale. It's a bit too long to wear with flats and it is far too low cut to wear without a layer under it. Also, it ties around the neck and I HATE things that tie around the neck. In my opinion, tie around the neck only works for ladies with less going on upstairs. For the rest of us it's just uncomfortable. I took the ties on this, crossed them in the back and safety pinned them and it makes this slightly less uncomfortable. I am so glad that Crossroads was not buying maxi dresses when I tried to sell it!

ladies who lunch

cardigan,shoes: Target
dress: fossil
necklace: gift

Having Sunday off for the past two weeks has greatly improved my outlook on life and my general stress level. It is so wonderful to just have the day to relax and enjoy without having to worry about anything. Today a couple friends and I headed over to check out the new Nordstrom Rack. The plan was for shopping, pedicures and day drinking. SUNDAY FUNDAY as ladies who lunch!!!!! Well, shopping happened though I bought nothing, lunch was ice cream, no day drinking took place but we did get pedicures. And I sure as hell looked the part! I got dressed this morning but then got annoyed with my outfit feeling it wasn't quite right. My roommate pointed out that it is totally a ME outfit. Maybe this is what I didn't want. The same outfit I wear everyday. "Oh skirt/dress and a cardigan, how unique" I just felt over it for a hot second. Then I shrugged it off. Such a petty annoyance has no place in a glorious, sunny day for a lady who lunches.

play with your clothes

This dress has an interesting structure to it. The style of the straps makes it near impossible to dress down. I love the pretty rose pattern of it and really wanted to wear it today. I decided to try tucking the straps down and layering a blouse over it. The blouse was a bit too long so I tucked it up and belted it in place. The tights are actually these sparkly bronze tights turned inside out. Sometimes you just need to get creative with your clothes. I could have easily grabbed something out of my closet and thrown it on but isn't it more fun to play around?

Round 3 with the ballerina skirt

After being so excited about this skirt and failing miserably the first time I wore it, I have taken it as a challenge to make this skirt work. I wore it here and somewhat redeemed myself. Yesterday I wore it with these two cardigans (my new favorite thing) and my new black oxford wedges. I think this skirt shrinks each time I wash it. A few more trips thru the wash and it is not going to cover the necessary areas at all!!! Then I will have to retire it and I'll be sad :(

Another round of photos in the chair. It's only fair to disclose that I will never pass up the chance to take photos in this chair. Anytime I am home during the day and need to take outfit photos, I will be taking them in this chair. Just throwing that out there.

After reading about PikaPika, japanese photo booth stickers, I finally went last week with my roommate and sister. Oh my goodness! It was awesome! We went back this weekend. We made a card for my friend and had way too much fun doing so :)

In the evening I got dressed up to attend my good friends' birthday dinner. My roommate and I took silly photos before we left the house.

love/hate

I have had a busy weekend and have not had time to post anything from this weekend. And now, here it is Tuesday :(

On Saturday, I went shopping in the city with my roommate and my close friend. I do not make it to the city near as often as I would like. sigh. One day, one day. My original plan had been to wear a new dress but it was not fitting so well. I may have gotten the wrong size. I dove back into my closet and pulled out a dress that I have mixed feelings about. I kind of love it and hate it. I love the lace at the top with the weird not-quite denim material of the dress. But the elastic fake belt thing is too tight and a tad too high and ugly to boot. Also, I always forget how butt short it is until i have it on and am out and about. I all of a sudden catch my reflection in a mirror and think "holy moses, I am on the verge of flashing my goods here!" However, I keep trying to make it work.

My roommate vetoed this outfit but I stubbornly kept it on. I just liked it! Do yall ever do that? Where something that you've been told doesn't work or isn't cute because you like it. I do. Many many fashion missteps. Oh so many!

That being said, I still like this. Maybe it it's so wrong that it's right :) Do you love it or hate it?

(side notes: My roommate took these since we were running late. Can you tell how uncomfortable I am?? The last picture should leave no doubt :) Also, how fluffy is my hair looking?? Little reminiscent of a cocker spaniel's ears)
