blogging and baking

skirt: Pins and Needles resale
top: Old Navy sale
heels: Steve Madden sale
Oakland necklace and Sugar Skull earrings: [un]possible cuts

The lazy days of summer are in full swing for me. I finished teaching summer school last Friday and have been doing serious relaxing this week. It's always a battle to jut enjoy time off and not fill it with tasks and activities. So many activities. This summer break I plan to blog more and bake more...both of which have been absent from my life lately.

too hot for summer

 chambray button up: GAP sale
pencil skirt: JCrew sale
heels: Steve Madden sale
necklace: Francesca's

Umm, so it's not fall. These chilly mornings have been confusing me. When I got home from work at noon, I couldn't rip these clothes off fast enough to change into something cooler. Wool skirt and heavy button up are not summer wear even if it is chilly when I leave home. I don't know what I was thinking.

fuschia...fuchsia...fushcia???

 dress: Vintage

I can never, ever remember how to spell that word! It's one of those words for me. I think it's that it doesn't follow a common spelling pattern or maybe my silly brain refuses to hold on to that tidbit. What are your words that you always misspell? Google search bar just informed me that the first spelling is correct...but firefox spell check is underlining it. Hmmmm firefox says fuchsia but that looks wrong to me. Okay, you must be long past caring but. fun fact, it is fuchsia, named after German botanist Leonhart Fuchs. In America, it is commonly misspelled as fuschia. You can thank yahoo answers for that ;)

This is actually today...I am searching out new photo spots at my new place.

taking it back

Don't hate me for being the kind of blogger who is CONSTANTLY paying catch up. If I can keep it together, I'm going to be getting outfits from the past month up over the next week.

School is out for summer and leisurely mornings are the greatest thing since sliced bread! I am not much for sleeping in. I love waking up and not having to rush to shower and get ready. Today I woke up, looked up some recipes, went to Trader Joe's and am having some coffee as I play catch up on here. Sigh. It's lovely.

The quality of these photos is sooooo poor, the light in my living room was almost gone. However, I really wanted to capture this outfit as it was the second time I had worn in and hadn't posted it the first time. These crappy photos don't do it justice.  I messed around with the saturation feature on picasa trying to tweak them but my editing skills are no match for a camera phone combined with poor lighting.

spring spring spring

I was battling the wind all day

top: Jason Wu for Target on clearance
skirt: Sway
heels: Steve Madden sale
jacket: GAP clearance
scarf: GAP gift
I was not thinking spring when I put this outfit on. Inspired by the mix of patterns in this post by Keiko Lynn, I decided to mix some patterns of my own. However, all day long I got comments on looking ready for spring. I have never worn this skirt to school. I typically have worn it high on my waist rather than lower on my hips as I wore it here. I was tugging it down all day because it kept creeping up my waist, getting shorter and shorter. I have no idea how people wear skirts or pants low on their hips. I have too much going on down there for anything to stay put. sigh.

not May yet

These heels get so much attention. They are pretty loud and proud. The weather has been so warm, which is great. However, it is totally confusing my students and making them bounce off the freaking walls. They are driving me nuts. It's barely February and they are acting like it's May. Grrrrrrr! Who can blame them, it feels like May.

party it up

skirt: vintage from the Alameda Antique Fair
t-shirt: Forever 21
heels: Steve Madden
Holiday outfit number two. At this party I want to be a bit more dressy. The sequin skirt is a stand out piece and to let it take center stage, I paired it with a navy, v-neck t-shirt. In keeping with the all blue theme I have been feeling lately, I wore these uber-awesome suede cobalt platform heels. I was ready to party :) I hope everyone has a safe, happy New Year's Eve. Party it up in all your fabulousness!!
