stepping on myself

dress: vintage
under dress: vintage
wedges: Target
I continually stepped on this gorgeous, flowy dress ALL DAY LONG. Stairs and getting up from chairs were my enemy today. I am surprised I didn't completely destroy it from all the wear and tear. I'd go to stand up and be caught short by myself stepping on the hem. After the first 20 times, I started to get annoyed. That said, all it would take was the wind catching this dress, causing it to float dreamily around me and all would be forgiven. Next time, higher heels are in order.

return of the old lady sweater

I realized yesterday that it has been far too long since my old lady sweater vest has been in the rotation. So tada!

vest: resale
dress: Montgomery Wards vintage
tights: Kohl's
heels: Target
necklace: Sway
In my mind wearing a vest with hummingbirds crocheted on it is on a whole other level than sweaters with kitten and chalkboards. As in, way cooler. Right, yall?

in it for the mix

 top: Old Navy
skirt: Anthropologie clearnace
hat, shoes: Target
necklace: Unpossible Cuts
Perfect outfit for people watching, in the sunshine, over micheladas. Micheladas are just about my favorite thing ever! I love bloody mary's but don't like them super strong, as I like the mix better than the vodka. Micheladas are the perfect solution. Beer, lots of bloody mary mix, lime and salt. Soooo good on a hot day. On Saturday I got up for a run and some yoga. By early afternoon, I had planted myself at a picnic table, with a friend to enjoy the beautiful weather. As you can see, I was not kidding about wearing this skirt every weekend. I'd call it a rut but this skirt is too awesome for such a derogatory word. I'm in a good rut.

yeehaw!!

 top: H&M
sweater/skirt: GAP clearance
peeptoe wedges: Rocket Dog
pins: reused from some other item and unpossible cuts

I have never been much of a pull over sweater person. For me, sweaters have always had this itchy, bulky, unflattering conotation in my mind. I felt lumpy, bumpy, and all round not right in them. Within the past year I have realized that the hideous Old Navy sweaters of my youth that, in fact, DID look god awful on me are not the only option as far as knitted tops go. I had just barely realzed this last winter and before I knew it winter faded away. Even though temps have not started dropping here, I am already antsy for some sweater, layering action. I got this sparkly, cropped number at GAP on massive clearance for $10. Yeehaw! I love the 3/4 sleeves and can't wait to pair it with something long-sleeve.
And yes, I did just yeehaw. I may be absent from Texas but it's not absent from me.

a scorcher of a day

 top: Noble U
sweater: Target
boots, tights: Simply Vera Wang from Kohl's
jean shorts: American Eagle
necklace: Unpossible Cuts

Today was spent exploring the city. It is hot H O T hot out. Such a gorgeous day. This is the type of day that should be spent in the water or under some shade staying cool. Or shopping in air conditioned stores. While pounding the pavement I stumbled upon some ridiculous sales. You'll be seeing my loot on here in the up coming weeks. Sweaters, pants, and even a hat have been added to my closet. I am going to need to make some room first :)

weekend staple

skirt: Anthropologie sale
top: Chambray shirt dress worm as a top, Anthro sale
wedge sandals: gift
hat: Target
I have been wearing this skirt every weekend. Seriously, every single weekend. I still have photos from the weekend before last in this skirt, that I have not posted. The weather has been so gorgeous that I want to let my legs breathe while they can. I am eagerly anticipating the cool, fall days when I can bring out my tights. But, for now, I am happy to traipse around the city bare legged.

Caramel Apple Cupcakes c/o me :)

On Sunday, I baked up a storm and went to an anniversary picnic for my favorite married couple, Hannah and Amir. Oh, my goodness I ate way too much yummy food. Is there a better way to spend a Sunday, than outdoors, hanging with good people, eating good food?

repeat

 dress: Target sale
belt: Target
pins: gift
slip: Anthro sale
purse: Let Them Eat Cake from Sway

I am thinking that this may be the first time I have repeated an outfit on here. I definitely wear repeat outfits all the time, but I have yet to post one. And this is a repeat from the flower pins to the wedge sandals. I like this outfit so much that it bears repeating in a new setting with a new haircut.

technical difficulties

My computer is being weird and doesn't want to sync any new photos to the web. Sooooooo, I couldn't post yesterday and now can't post today. Luckily, as always, I have a whole slew of photos that I never got around to posting. Week before last, I barely caught the last glimpse of daylight to capture this outfit. I love the length of this skirt. It is a kind of frumpy skirt but it is so easy to wear. I keep finding new outfit combinations.

ribbons, ruffles, and chambray

dress: Lauren Conrad from Kohl's
chambray tunic: Anthropologie
Hawk wedges: Seychelles
I love how versatile dresses are. I bought this blue, ribbon pattern dress on sale at Kohl's, kind of wondering if it was impractical. It is on the dressy side and I wasn't sure if it would get much wear. I do find myself passing over it, like I am saving it for a special occasion. However, the few times I have worn it I have always dressed it down and I have always layered with it. Here I threw it on over a chambray button up and added lace up wedges. As the weather continues to approach winter coldness, I know this dress will be great with tights, sweaters and boots.

monochromatic

skirt: JCrew clearance
top: Old Navy sale
heels: Target
necklace: Target
Got home late and attempted to make indoor photos after dark work. Not the greatest but I just loved this monochromatic look. I actually wore this the first day of school but was unable to get a photo. 5 weeks later I am rotating back to it and was determined to get it online. Success. I had been totally inspired by the August JCrew catalog when it came out. The bold, bright colors, not a ton of patterns. Just color, all over the place.

Mod

 dress:resale from Crossroads
sweater: Old Navy sale
tights: Old Navy
wedges: Forever 21
necklace: (un)possible cuts

Let the layering continue. I decided to take the cooler weather and run with it. Unfortunately, Sunday didn't turn out to be all that cool. It was a beautiful day in the East Bay. I spent the afternoon at the Alameda Antique Fair. The weather was ridiculous. So sunny and gorgeous! I wandered the bazillion aisles, pawing thru all sorts of stuff that gives meaning to the phrase..."One man's trash..." I found a few treasures of my own. Including a big turquoise framed mirror.
I left Alameda to head back to the city for a haircut at Revamp Salon. I had planned to go home and grade papers but leaving the salon, my hair was way too bouncy, swingy and shiny to stay cooped up in my house. So, I made a call and met up with some friends in North Beach. Cheap thai food with gin and tonics turned out to be the perfect way to end my Sunday.

So long September

dress: Spotted Moth
button up: GAP clearance
wedges: Target sale
necklace: Unpossible Cuts
Final day of September and the weather finally allowed me to indulge in some fall layering. I know I should not be wishing for cooler days yet but I am. The weather is going to oblige and I will be complaining and wishing for warmth but I have to say...bring it fall. I am ready.
