I'm calling it Selfish Saturday

dress (as a skirt): JC Penny
blouse: Kohl's clearance
jacket: Nordstrom Rack
doe necklace: [un]possible cuts
tights: JCrew
boots: Target
lipstick: Maybelline "Shocking Coral", Revlon "Cherries in the Snow" at the corners
I can proudly say that I did not participate in a any Black Friday or Cyber Monday madness. I could not say the same for the Saturday in between. In my head, I was avoiding the craziness but benefiting from the sales. And benefit I did! Are there people who can actually shop on the weekend after Thanksgiving and only buy gifts, not shop for themselves? If so, who are you and will you please teach me your self restraint? I bought lots of gifts but I shopped for myself too. How could I resist the holiday products at Lush? How could I resist 40% off at Old Navy and GAP?  I couldn't. If you hit the stores last weekend and only bought for others, you are a far, far better person than I.

Black cherry lips

 skirt: Target clearance
top: Old Navy
sweater: Target
boots: Kohl's clearance
lipstick: Milani Black Cherry

Sooooooo, I have a question for my small following. Do yall care if I write anything with these posts, or are you mostly just checking out the photos? Most of the time I don't know what to write and it's a struggle. Plus, I know for most of the style blogs I follow, I mainly look at the photos and rarely read the text. Let me know, pretty please. Either on facebook or in the comments below. Thanks!!

littlest sis/big sis

dress: Dolce Vita resale
jacket: Target clearance
Ampersand heels: Seychelle's
shockwaves necklace: [un]possible cuts

I scored this dress when my little sister was in town. We went shopping for school clothes for her and I, of course, could resist trying on stuff as well. She's only 15 but she's got herself some style. She talked me into buying this adorable, little dress and I've been wearing it whenever I have the chance.

new clothes

skirt: Forever 21
top: GAP
tights: H&M
wedges:Forever 21

I bought this skirt last year. It was cheap and I didn't own anything like it. Sadly, it almost immediately became to small and I never got to wear it. After a few months I packed it away and just recently unearthed it as I stored away summer clothes. To my delight, it fit. I love feeling like I got new clothes with out spending money.

nailed it!

 galaxy nail tutorial from MissJenFABULOUS

dress: H&M
button up: JCrew
tights: Kohl's
heels: Lela Rose for Payless

I have been having a hard time reconciling the temperature when I wake up and get dressed with what I know the temperature will be by 1 or 2 pm. It's so cold in the morning that I reach for as many layers as possible. And I need them. I need them all morning long. But then after noon the sun starts shining and it gets warm and I regret wearing a long sleeve button up under my dress.
I have to say, I nailed it with this combo. It's not for everyone I'm sure but I loved the mix of prints and colors.

sassy pants...unseen archives

jeans: Target
top: GAP gift
cardigan: AE (circa 2004)
Ampersand heels: Seychelles
necklace: Francesca's closet

This is pretty much the only set of photos showing this haircut where my head doesn't look oddly shaped. I liked it for a half a second and then have to endure growing these bangs out. This is March I think so it's been a long time coming. Don't you hate that? A haircut that you like in the chair and on day 1 but once you wash it, you hate it? Ugh. So, the outfit though. I felt a tad bit too sassy for school in this, meaning I loved this outfit.  I rarely wear jeans so I assume this was a Friday. Am I ready for the weekend or what? I need to unearth this outfit from my closet and give it another go.

lost in the shuffle...unseen archives

Dress: H&M
cardigan: JCrew
shoes: Target
sugar skull earrings [un]possible cuts

I have a ton of outfits from the spring that I photographed and just never got around to posting. Probably because I was going through a fashion funk at the time and wasn't very inspired. In addition, I was taking an online class on top of teaching full time and life got busier than usual.

I want to love this dress but honestly it never lives up to my expectations. Floral print, body conscious, cut out details...it's alot going for it but it just doesn't come together. But you know me, I am going to keep trying to make it work...because I'm stubborn like that :)

denim vests at the office...not casual Friday

skirt: Target
button up: Old Navy
vest: Target
wedge heels: Old Navy

This outfit was the direct result of wanting to get more use out this vest. Denim vests were all over the place this spring and summer. Often worn with a maxi skirt or dress and definitely worn as part of a casual look, I want to try to wear mine with a work outfit. Granted not everyone will be able to get away with this kind of look at their place of work. That said, I thought it worked out well, giving a tweed skirt and button up a bit of an edge. By keeping the color palette in line with the shade of denim, it's not too much of a statement. Next time, I may try colors that the vest will stand out against.

la di da

dress: Lauren Conrad for Kohl's clearance
cardigan: Target
shoes: Lela Rose for Payless
necklace: [un]possible cuts

Do you ever put on an outfit and just feel fancy? Dresses and heels are the norm for me, but something about this dress just feels extra special. It's got this vintage vibe to it that I love. You can almost forget the drab exterior of the buildings behind me. Let's just pretend I'm sashaying down a much prettier, much more picturesque street. As a side note, this dress is not to be worn on windy days...I pulled a Marilyn a couple times trying to avoid the wind blowing this full skirt straight up, causing me to flash the world.

sweatpants

skirt: Nordstrom Rack
top: Kohl's
sandals: Target
vest: Target
necklace: gift

Comfortable and casual. That was the theme of the day. I am seriously playing catch up on posts here. These photos were taken before school started when I was still getting ready for the new year and prepping my room. I can't even say how often I wear this skirt. It's essentially sweatpants. Easy to wear and what I reach for when I just don't care.
