not so much

top: Lauren Conrad sale
shorts: Vietnam tailor
wedges: Dolce Vita for Target

A lovely Saturday perfect Saturday done and over with. I wore this in the afternoon and ended up changing into a midi skirt for a party in the evening. I was a bit uncomfortable walking around in these shorts since I have gotten so used to tights all winter when I've worn shorter lengths. These felt super scandalous. And once I looked at these photos, I felt even more so. And so came my decision to put on a long skirt. I wanted to just delete this batch of photos but decided to just post it. I want to share not just the outfits that I like but ones I try and decided I d0n't like. So, short shorts with wedge sandals...don't like it for myself. Pink floral print wrap top...love it.

riding a real train

dress: Lauren Conrad clearance
cardigan: GAP sale
tights: Target
boots: Steve Madden clearance

I rode all over the bay area today on the train. Had I not had my library book with me I would have gone crazy. An hour train ride to the city for a 10 minute bang trim. If the guy who cuts my hair wasn't so darn good at what he does I would find a place closer to home. After my 2 second trim I hopped back on BART for the hour long ride back to the East Bay. But I got on the wrong train. Well, the train I was on my fine but I didn't registrer that I would need to change trains until I was a good 15 minutes beyond that point. So I got off, made my way to the other platform and 2 trains and 30 minutes later I was back at my car.

Just tell me my hair looks fabulous and the 3 hours on the train was totally worth the quarter centimeter he took off my bangs.

Beauty

skirt: Anthro clearance
button up: Pac Sun
platforms: Jeffery Campbell from Nordstrom Rack
belt, earrings: Target

Confession. I love the show Glee. Love love. I just finished watching last night's episode on Hulu. It was on accepting the parts of you that you hate. Well, I have a very noticible mole on my face, by my mouth. I've had it forever and I hated it growing up. Oh, I was so self conscious about it and dreamed of having it removed when I grew up. This was the late 80s early 90s and adults would tell me that it was like the supermodel Cindy Crawford. I would just think to myself, "Yeah and it's ugly on her too" I can remember my dad telling me that they are beauty marks and they show up on your body to mark where you are beautiful. I still hated it.
The thing is, people are right. As I grew up I accepted my beauty mark and even like how it makes me different. Some things you just figure out in time.

sunny take on an old outfit

skirt: Banana resale
dress worn as a top: H&M
cardigan: Target
shoes: Seychelle's Hawk wedges on sale

So i am rushing off to work the second job. Just wanted to get this up now since when I get home I'll be dead tired. I wore this skirt and top in in the fall and it was one of my favorite outfits. For the spring I lost the tights and went with a light weight cardigan. I like how it came together. Do you see this gorgeous sunny weather we are having? Oh, I love California!

warm neutral

dress: Kohl's clearance
camisole: GAP body
cardigan: Express (on loan)
shoes: Seychelle's Hawk wedges on sale
belt, necklace: Target

My Spring Break has ended and today brought me back to the classroom not quite ready to be back. The good news is that I have a new outfit post. I just can't get it together to post while out of town. My out of town trips tend to veer towards the crazy, whirlwind variety. Not so much the laid back, chill, relaxing sort.

This is not my favorite outfit ever. I've been drawn toward cooler, brighter colors lately and this warm, neutral outfit kind of just happened. Meh. It's fine I guess.

smug

jacket: resale from Crossroads
top: H&M
button up: Old Navy clearance
jeans: $20 at Target!!
boots: Simply Vera Wang from Kohl's clearance

Spring break is here and though the weather is grey and I feel super mellow, I am positively thrilled to have the whole week with no work! Since the weather here in Oakland is not cooperating I am taking off for sunnier warmer climates. Texas here I come! My lucky stars must have all aligned because my best friend is able to take a couple days off, have her mom watch my goddaughter, thereby allowing her to road trip to Austin with me. I can't imagine a more perfect way to spend this week off.

This blue grey outfit is a direct result of the blue mood pulling at me and the grey skies above. Blah! At least my $20 jeans are perfect. I just want to strut around all smirky because I didn't have to spend a bajillion dollars to find jeans that fit. But i won't cuz no one likes a smug smirker. Oh, please ignore the expression on my face in the second picture. It is definitely NOT a smirk.

if it ain't broke

dress: vintage from New Bohemia
cardigan: GAP
tights: Old Navy
belt: H&M
platforms: Jeffery Campbell from Nordstrom Rack

I have got Spring Break on the brain. I can't blame my kids at all for being squirrely, actually they have been great. But I am so ready for a nice long week off. I'm going to get out of town, hopefully see some PC friends and get some beach time.

Can I sing the praises of New Bohemia enough? I don't think I can. That place rocks. This dress is from Montgomery Wards, remember that place. Is it even around anymore. The tag and label look pretty ancient so I am thinking no. The couple times I have worn this have always been with these sky high platforms. I probably should switch things up next time but they work so well with this dress. And if it ain't broke...

rocking the ugly skirt

Since today was Jungle/Tropical Spirit Day at school and I wore this...

I instead belatedly bring you what I wore on Monday...

skirt: Kohl's $8
top: Old Navy
jacket: Target clearance
belt: Kohl's sale
shoes: Dolce Vita for target

I saw this skirt at Kohl's and picked it up to try on. For whatever reason I put it back and my roommate commented on it being ugly or something. Well, I went back and got it. She says ugly, I say cute. I've always liked this midi length on myself and have several dresses this length. We laughed as she gave me crap about how hideous it is and rolled her eyes as I gushed about how adorable my new $8 skirt was. A small part of me kind of wondered if she was right and I decided if I could find at least 5 different ways to wear it, that would justify keeping it. The moment that my roommate said, "I hate to admit it, but you are rocking that ugly skirt" I knew I was keeping it.

too cool for school

dress: vintage from New Bohemia
belt: target
jacket: resale, $18 at Crossroads!!!
socks, heels; Simply Vera Wang at Kohl's (clearance)

This is going to be brief. It's late and my brain is zapped of everything save getting some shut-eye immediately.

This dress is my most recent vintage purchase from New Bohemia in Austin, acquired in February when visiting my little sis. That store never lets me down. The little socks are a trend I have hesitantly tried a few times are past few months. Verdict...I like it. Anything cute and girly is okay by me. It so reminds me of being 6 and begging my mom to let me wear socks with my jellies (remember jellies???) because I thought it was soooooooo cool. My begging did me no good and I never did get to rock socks and jellies. Ankle socks and heels...almost as cool. ;)

So I once again missed the boat on the EBEW challenge. I have been soooo wanting to participate so I submitted a maxi skirt outfit I wore a while back. I am a cheater-pants, I know :(

Weekend Fever

Aren't weekend the greatest thing in the whole entire world? Not working on Saturday and Sunday is the best thing since sliced bread. Saturday brunch turned into people-watching on a patio, which turned into sushi dinner, which turned into too much sake and led to a nap. And that nap led to me staying up until like 4 am watching netflix...too tired to get out of bed and too wired to fall asleep. Somehow I woke up Sunday refreshed. I took my laundry to the laundomat and had a latte with a delicious strawberry coffee cake while reading the paper. Spring fever took hold because after I finished 3 loads of laundry I decided to do some serious spring cleaning. I'm not what you would call a big cleaner. I don't clean my apartment every weekend by any stretch of the imagination. So for me to sweep and mop the whole joint is like a special occassion. You wouldn't believe how many times I had to mop and change the water before the kitchen was clean enough. Gross right? TMI? Don't judge alright, it's clean enough to eat off the floors now. SInce I was in a cleaning frenzy I didn't change out of my sweatpants until 4. I go the new anthro catalog last week and will be basing every outfit I wear thru spring on it's pages. One picture showed the model wearing an acid green/chartreuse/ lime -ish (no idea what this color is) with grey capris. Here's my take...

top: H&M clearance
cords: Old Navy clearance
heels: SImply Vera Wang clearance at Kohl's
necklace: Target

Also, I changed my page so that my labels are visible. I went thru and meticulously labeled all of my previous posts so at the click of the mouse you can see other way I wore items. Hope it's helpful.

9 year old approved

I was all set to get back on track with Inspiration Thursday. But then I ran errands after work and didn't get home until after dark. I had at least 3 little girls at school tell me they liked my outfit today so you know it was a good one ;) 6year olds have an eye for these things you know. Not only that but the principal told me that the 4th graders are scoping me out daily. Haha As in, "did you see what Ms........was wearing today?" Too funny.

Instead I bring you an outfit that failed to make it online in February. This was a random freak gorgeous day in the middle of cold ass February. I took the opportunity to wear shorts...and thigh highs...and red platforms. What can I say, I got excited to see the sun.

you'll have to take my word that I edited out the most boudoir-y ones. It was dark and the light was best in my room. Meh

big freakin deal

dress, belt, tights: Target
cardigan: GAP
boots: Kohl's

So I got my first spam comments. Does this mean that I am a big freakin deal now? Nothing says the big time like a plug for penis enlargement. I got an email saying I had a comment and when I clicked on it, imagine my surprised to see a message promoting penis enlargement. Those kind of comments are strictly for my super secret scandalous blog. (no such blog exists if anyone asks) So I deleted the spam and promptly added the word verification thing to my comments. Then I thought how annoying it is to have to do that everytime I comment on someone's page. So I am taking it off. Let the penis enlargement spam comments do their worst. Because I am so not a big deal. This blog is low key enough that I don't need to filter comments. But, mark my words, once I hit the big time, Mom, you'll have to quit with the penis comments. I'll then have a rep to protect.

wind blown and washed out

multi-tasking trying to take photos and talk to my lovely islandmate Jay-net!

dress (worn as a top): H&M clearance
skirt: Kohl's clearance
cardigan: Anthro clearance
belt, shoes: Target
broach: ???

I finally put the phone down since dealing with the wind, talking, and adjusting the camera proved to be way too much for we to handle all at once. Wowza it was so bright and the wind was a blowin! Most of the photos look washed out but I like it. I wore such light delicate colors today. I think the extreme brightness makes those colors look dreamy and pretty. I also have alot of patterns and textures going on. The spring green and white floral skirt, a light, mauve pink dress that is tulle and ribbon striped, the ruffled cardigan, the sparkly belt. Yeah this has a lot going on but it works. Don't you love it when an outfit just comes together?
