for the love of Jojo

actually getting more bearable since I wear them everyday

dress: Bebe gift
cardigan/belt: Target
shoes: Mia
necklace: Unpossible Cuts

One of my coworkers GAVE me this beautiful dress. She said that since I always wear dresses, she thought of me. This dress has been sitting, unworn and unloved in her closet for a long time. Well, she came to the right person because after not even 12 hours in my possession, I ripped the tag off and showed this dress some love. How gorgeous is it? All sorts or swingy, twirly, pleated perfection if you ask me.

gift-horse

dress: target sale
pins: gift
belt: Target
slip: Anthropologie
wedges: Mia

I think this print is gingham and I love that it makes me think of the country, which makes me think of Texas. Although the print of this Target dress is gingham, I tried to dress it up a bit. If you know me at all, then you understand that a belt is a given. I am predictable if nothing else. I added the knit flower pins and these super-cute, super-uncomfortable wedges. (note to self, when buying heels stick to brands that I know will not kill my feet...Target, Seychelle's, and that's it). How is it that totally affordable Target heels are the most consistently comfortable and therefore make up the bulk of my sizeable shoe collection? I am gonna go ahead and just be grateful.

the front tuck

top, skirt, sandals: H&M
necklace: Sway
belt: Target

This week I have all sorts of been dressing outside the norm for myself. It's been fun! I like how this loose, flowing top looks great with an equally flowy maxi skirt. And without looking too much like a mumu. Thank YOU front-tuck. Do yall remember the front tuck? Oh it's back and not just for frat boys front tucking their polos. Ladies, front tuck it up :)

bandwagon hopper

Link

cords: GAP clearance
tunic: resale no tag
wedges: Mia sale
belt: Target
necklace: Unpossible Cuts

I love love love this tunic. I love that it is a departure from my usual style. Denim and chambray seem to be all the rage this past year and the trend doesn't seem to be losing steam. I am not above hopping on the bandwagon.

Notice the necklace??? My friends at Unpossible Cuts launched their website this weekend. I modeled some of their jewelry for them so don't be surprised to see yours truly hamming it up...yeah, grinning awkwardly in embarrassment would be a more accurate phrase. Go check them out, show some love, buy some awesome jewelry. I have been wearing the seahorse necklace I got from them to death and last night they gave me a few more pieces. The lotus necklace you see here is one, you'll be seeing the rest later. They are in the process of adding everything so check back periodically to see their full line.

sunny in the city

top: Nordstrom Rack clearance
skirt: GAP sale
tights: Sway
shoes: Mia on sale

After several grey days, this afternoon I left work in the East Bay and came across the bridge to unexpected sunshine in the city. Yeeeeeeeees! I took that as motivation to rustle up some courage and take my photos outside on my street. I lucked out as no one was walking by during the few minutes it took to snap these. It is so awkward posing for a tripod as people stroll by, openly gawking at you. And can you really blame them? If I walked by some chick posing solo, all dolled up...you can bet I would stare. Yes I would. I'd make it awkward, reeeeeeeal awkward ;)

Inspired by: My Greatest Hits inspiration

top: Forever 21 resale
skirt: Target
shoes: Target
belt: Target
necklace: antique store and Unpossible Cuts

A big thank you to My Greatest Hits for providing the inspiration for this outfit. She posted this link on her blog and I loved it. I absolutely had to put together my own version using pieces I already had.

EBEW Yellow

cardigan: GAP sale
dress: Sway clearance
tights: Kohl's sale
boots: Seychelle Romance on sale

I have been out the loop for the past two Everybody Everywear challenges. I was torn on what to wear. I considered going all yellow but decided against it, thought about doing the yellow tights...I tried many outfits. And in the end I pulled an un-posted outfit from my archives and am using that.

I love the short, playfulness of this dress that I got for like 8 bucks. I added burgundy, textured tights and lace up boots to toughen up the look. Ooooo I'm so tough in my cardigan and satin dress. Don't mess with me. :)

on fashion

dress: Erin Featherston for Target resale
sweater: JCrew resale
tights: Old Navy
wedges: Seychelle's Hawk sale
blouse: Lauren Conrad from Kohl's sale
belt: Target

Today was a grey, cloudy, windy day and surprisingly I was ready for it. I have been missing my tights just a little bit. The weather obliged me with some chilly gloom and I jumped at the chance to layer up this dress. Admittedly this pairing of lavender ruffles and pink floral is not a safe combination. Heck, it isn't even a flattering but I really like it. Of course I love fashion for the obvious reason that when done well it can make you look wonderful. Who doesn't? But I think it is important to me, that I can push the limits of what is in style and what is my style. I try new things, mix things up. Sometimes it looks great, other times it looks awful.

There are so many outfits that never make it out the door. I try things on and discard them as obvious "no's" But then there are outfits like this one today, that I hesitate, unsure. Do I like it, do I not like it? The only way to be sure is to wear it. After 8 hours in an outfit you know for sure if it works or not. Even at the end of the day, there is still something I like about this outfit. Probably the over the top, girly aesthetic. But if I wear it again it will be tweaked because it wasn't quite right. Here's to playing dress up :)

at heart

skirt: vintage resale
blouse: GAP
wedges: Zara
belt: Target
necklace: Sway
hair: modified version of this tutorial by Sidewalk Ready

My internet has been down for a week and I have not been down to hoof it the one block to use free internet at my little corner cafe. Lazy! Honestly, I may not have gotten here had I not been walking past it on my way to the grocery store and seen the Happy Hour sign. $3 beer while I update the blog...um okay! I turned myself right around marched the one block back to my place, got my computer and now we are current.

You may notice the new surroundings. I am teaching summer enrichment for the month and have a new school to sneak around surreptitiously and snap outfit photos. Yup, I just said "surreptitiously" Okay, confession...I was that girl who would read on the bus in middle school and at sleepovers. I have 3 different library cards and have books checked out under all of them. Let me just proudly state that I will always be a nerdy little bookworm at heart :)

poor choices

dress: vintage
cardigan: GAP sale
wedges: Dolce Vita for Target

This outfit was the worst possible choice I could have made. The one day I don't check the weather on my phone! THE ONE DAY! That's the day it rains like mad! I froze my butt of and got soaked repeatedly. Poor, poor choice. On a warm, sunny day, this would have been perfect! Rainy, cold day...not so much :(
