Festive

I look ready for St Patrick's Day, don't I? I have this think that I don't even think I realize I do, where on holiday weeks, I dress up for that holiday all week long. On the week of Valentine's Day, I am pretty sure I wore some version or pink or red every single day. The week leading up to St Patty's, I, all of a sudden, rediscovered every green item in my closet.
Easter's approaching. Pastels, I'm coming for you!

new clothes

skirt: Forever 21
top: GAP
tights: H&M
wedges:Forever 21

I bought this skirt last year. It was cheap and I didn't own anything like it. Sadly, it almost immediately became to small and I never got to wear it. After a few months I packed it away and just recently unearthed it as I stored away summer clothes. To my delight, it fit. I love feeling like I got new clothes with out spending money.

Instant validation

 dress: Target
jacket: Target
wedges: Target
shockwaves necklace: [un]possible cuts

This outfit felt so effortless and simple but I love that it still looked put together. I totally credit this Isis necklace from [un]possible cuts for polishing up an otherwise casual outfit. I've been wearing it all the time. It's crazy how often I get asked about their necklaces when I wear them. Instant validation :)

layering piece

dress: Anthro clearance
chambray: Lauren Conrad clearance
wedges: Target
shockwaves necklace: [un]possible cuts

I had a lazy week post-Peace Corps reunion.  I had the luxury of being on summer break so I could putter around the apartment in yoga pants for a few days, cooking, reading, and watching Game of Thrones for the first time. This outfit symbolized a return to the world at large. It took having set plans with my friend Rita to actually get me in real clothes. So I got myself all fancied up. Heels, lipstick, the whole shebang.
I've had two other chambray button ups and this one from Kohl's is my "third time it's a charm." The first one ripped, the second was too stiff, but this one is perfect. Soft and worn in just right. It's a great layering piece, which one needs in the Bay Area.

pinafores are tough right?

 dress: Forever 21 cearance
tights: GAP sale
wedges: Forever 21
jacket: resale
necklace:Unpossible Cuts

Not sure where this outfit came from since I spent the day in my classroom getting ready for week two. I went to get dressed and my mind said, "pinafore and leather jacket please" so I complied. That being said I love this mix of tough and sweet. Like me :)  Okay, I wish I were tough. Really this is me trying to pretend like I'm tough. Did it work? Just say yes.

I have been obsessed with this bird love shadowbox necklace for a while now but had to promise not to wear it on the blog until they released it on their etsy site. Well, it's up, so get one while the getting is good!

cowlick central

skirt: Target
top: H&M
shoes: Forever 21

Taming this darn cowlick is such a hassle! It refused to budge today. On top of that it occured to me as I got to school that these black lace-up wedges with little white socks calls to mind Michael Jackson. Once I learn the moonwalk I will be set!

another baby step

dress: Erin Featherston for Target resale
cardigan: Target
tights: target
wedges: Seyhelle's Hawk wedges on sale

So I got up the nerve to go beyond the front gate of my house to take my photos!!!! I knew I was going to have to go straight from one job to another today. It was as good a reason as any to make myself push beyond my comfort zone and take outfit photos in public. True, these are in a secluded place and no one was around but it's a step. Another baby step. I was so paranoid the whole time that someone would walk by or see me. I hardly looked at the camera because I was so busy scanning for passersby. It will get easier I hope.

play with your clothes

This dress has an interesting structure to it. The style of the straps makes it near impossible to dress down. I love the pretty rose pattern of it and really wanted to wear it today. I decided to try tucking the straps down and layering a blouse over it. The blouse was a bit too long so I tucked it up and belted it in place. The tights are actually these sparkly bronze tights turned inside out. Sometimes you just need to get creative with your clothes. I could have easily grabbed something out of my closet and thrown it on but isn't it more fun to play around?

farewell purple tights

No Thursday "Inspired By:" post. Too much of a crazy, whirlwind week. Today was not my day. Even purple tights couldn't lift my foul mood. Then I, of course, got a giant hole in these tights like an hour into the morning. I don't know why I don't wear this dress more often. I like it. It's great for layering and the color makes it perfect for pairing with stand out tights. Today I wore it with this pretty butterfly print top I got for $5 at Nordstrom Rack and tights my sis gave me for Christmas.

Round 3 with the ballerina skirt

After being so excited about this skirt and failing miserably the first time I wore it, I have taken it as a challenge to make this skirt work. I wore it here and somewhat redeemed myself. Yesterday I wore it with these two cardigans (my new favorite thing) and my new black oxford wedges. I think this skirt shrinks each time I wash it. A few more trips thru the wash and it is not going to cover the necessary areas at all!!! Then I will have to retire it and I'll be sad :(

Another round of photos in the chair. It's only fair to disclose that I will never pass up the chance to take photos in this chair. Anytime I am home during the day and need to take outfit photos, I will be taking them in this chair. Just throwing that out there.

After reading about PikaPika, japanese photo booth stickers, I finally went last week with my roommate and sister. Oh my goodness! It was awesome! We went back this weekend. We made a card for my friend and had way too much fun doing so :)

In the evening I got dressed up to attend my good friends' birthday dinner. My roommate and I took silly photos before we left the house.
