bump week 31

 dress: Target
cardigan: J Crew
ankle boots: Kohl's

This past weekend my best friend threw me a baby shower. It was actually my second shower, as my other dear friend surprised me with a Bay Area shower when I went to visit in November. That shower was smaller and more intimate. This shower was much bigger with lots of friends, coworkers, family, and family friends. I have been so humbled by the love and support people have showered us with as we get ready to enter with new phase of our lives. I'm so lucky to be able to share my excitement with the people I love both in California and Texas. I have one more shower in two weeks. It's down in Houston because all of my extended family live in San Antonio, Houston, and Austin. Dallas would have been too far of a drive for most of them to come to the Dallas shower.

I went shopping before this shower, thinking I would find a dress to wear. When the day came, I decided to go with a non-maternity dress that I've had from a couple years ago. It was stretched to capacity but I liked the color. Jeremie keeps commenting that I can't get any bigger. I tell him to just wait and see.

Still feeling good. Heavy, but good. My rings and shoes have been more snug, so I think that 3rd trimester swelling is happening. Not excited about that. The past week or two I have been staying up later...10-11 pm. This week I am back to early bedtimes because I have been more tired once again.

Finally, I started setting up the baby's room. My dad and I put together the crib, I bought a used glider off craigslist, and she has more newborn clothes than she could ever have time to wear. Jeremie says I'm nesting, but it's hard to not spend all my spare time reading baby books, organizing baby stuff, and making plans. It's all consuming. Enjoyable, but all consuming.

bump week 27

dress: Old Navy maternity
vest: unsure of brand from Paperline Boutique
scarf: Target
ankle boots: Kohl's

This is the very end of week 27 and I think my second trimester. I read conflicting information on which week the third trimester begins, but I think it's week 28.

I am on winter break for the next week and a half and so far it's been so nice! We celebrated Christmas, no we hosted Christmas in our new house last weekend. With our mismatched, hand-me-down furniture, we barely fit everyone, but it was so wonderful having our parents and most of our siblings under one roof. We opened a mountain of presents, cooked together, and ate too much. I can't think of a better way to spend Christmas.

Since then, I have had a string of lazy days spent at home. Though my rapidly growing belly frequently causes me to reach for comfortable clothes and pajamas, when I do get dressed for real, I reach for this dress. It's great for layering and comfortable. I love these boots and vest for the same reason, comfortable and versatility.

bump week 26

dress: Old Navy
cardi: Target
tights: Target
booties: Tom's

I am definitely feeling MUCH bigger and looking much bigger too. This dress was probably the last non-maternity purchase I made, thinking it would accommodate my growing belly. It does accommodate but I wouldn't say it's very forgiving. It's a whole lot of plaid.

I honestly didn't care for this look. There is a reason to buy maternity clothes. Even though this dress is long enough and big enough, it just didn't fit properly and as a result I felt uncomfortable in it. I am at the end of my second trimester and it's hard to believe I am just going to get bigger.

Overall, I feel very lucky. People constantly ask how I am feeling and I have felt great throughout. I haven't been sick or uncomfortable at all. If my clothes not fitting is my biggest problem, I count myself fortunate.

bump week 25

So...lots has happened and lots of time has gone by. 2015 brought many ups, as well as some of the hardest moments of my life. I am not going to go into detail, but we got through it and 2016 is almost over and has brought even more changes and more ups and downs. The biggest, most obvious celebration is getting pregnant with our first baby.

Dressing this alien body has been weird to say the least. Thanks to generous hand-me-downs and amazing sales at Old Navy, I am finally having days where I don't feel like a total frump. Pajamas and all things stretchy still win out once the weekend hits but during the week when I have places to be, I am beginning to enjoy getting dressed again. Having an undeniable bump helps.

As you can see, I still have a ways to go before I fully stretch this maternity dress to capacity, but there is definitely a baby in there.

a reminder

boots: Lauren Conrad clearance
skirt: Target clearance
top: Anthro clearance
neacklace: Isis Soundwaves by Unpossible Cuts
Sunglasses: Walgreens
I debated including any text because how often can I make excuses for not blogging. Since moving to Texas, my life has so dramatically changed from the life I had built in the Bay Area. I am still wondering if blogging was just a phase of my late 20s-early 30's, and it doesn't fit into the new life I have been creating in Texas.

I don't have an answer to this, but taking photos, editing, and posting today felt good. It reminded me why I used to blog. It reminded me of how blogging shaped that period of my life and the person I have become.

stitch fix #2

Squeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaal!!

Stitch fix is the best thing EVER! It's Christmas and my birthday but kind of better b/c it's every month if I want (and can afford). My first fix was back in April or May I think and it was just okay. The style was not me at all but it actually worked out. I got a package (happy dance) of clothes (happy dance again) delivered to my door. I couldn't really afford to have kept everything in it so it was good that I only liked one sweater.

When I checked out online I was brutally honest about the items not being my style and left a note for my stylist expressing this. I think I kind of went off about how I had specfically stated in my style profile that I almost never wear pants yet black leggings showed up in my first fix.

Well, it worked! My second fix arrived on Friday and it was dead on! Behold...
First up and my favorite was this cute polka dot dress, it came with the belt and I paired it with ankle boots since fall is coming.
Here it is with the striped moto jacket...my stylist included a note, saying she had seen a similar jacket on my pinterest board. Bonus points! You can link pinterest boards to your style profile.
The third piece was this burgundy, keyhole dress. Perfect for layering this fall!
Burgundy dress with the moto jacket
My stylist recommended layering a knotted chambray shirt over the dress...she clearly knows me so well!
The fourth piece was this light blue silk blouse with magenta trim. I tried it with this grey lace skirt. Meh.

Untucked with jeans and the moto jacket. Much better
The fifth piece was the turquoise and gold lariat necklace I am wearing in every photo. It's beautiful and unlike anything I own.

As you can tell I am soooo pleased with this fix. The downside is that I wanted everything. The only piece I wasn't crazy about was the jacket. It was a bit big. However, if you keep all 5 items you get 25% off so it was actually cheaper to keep the jacket than send it back.  If you are interested in getting a fix of your own here's a link. Get your own fix.
