blogging and baking

skirt: Pins and Needles resale
top: Old Navy sale
heels: Steve Madden sale
Oakland necklace and Sugar Skull earrings: [un]possible cuts

The lazy days of summer are in full swing for me. I finished teaching summer school last Friday and have been doing serious relaxing this week. It's always a battle to jut enjoy time off and not fill it with tasks and activities. So many activities. This summer break I plan to blog more and bake more...both of which have been absent from my life lately.

guess whose back?

dress: Target clearance
tights: Old Navy
heels: Lela Rose for Payless
belt: H&M

So, like a broken record, I again have to apologize for my long absence. It was a combination of factors. My computer died and getting a new one took a while. Getting it all set up took even longer. In addition, I took an 8 week online graduate class that ate up a ton of my time. I've been busy but I'm back.
ps I have bangs again
pps I've missed you!

mind changed

skirt: Banana Republic resale
tshirt: Target
blouse: Marshall's
acorn earrings: [un]possible cuts
hawk wedges: Seychelle's sale
belt: Target

Have you ever worn an outfit that you LOVED and felt great wearing all day long; only to see it in pictures later and hate the way in looks? Meet that outfit. I got this blouse for a song on Marshall's and was so excited because not only was it sheer but it had an ornate, pearl collar.  Try as I might I have never found an outfit to wear it with that I've liked. Then I paired it underneath this grey, scoop-necked tshirt and thought I'd done it. Found a way to wear this damn blouse. And all day long, I was loving this outfit. The grey, the detailing. Ugh! Then I pulled up these pictures and immediately changed my mind. Keep in mind that the above pictures were the "good" ones. The others were god awful.

You win some, you lose some.

overexposed

skirt: thrifted
button up: Old Navy
sequin tank: J Crew clearance
scarf: Old Navy
Hawk wedges: Seychelle's sale
owl necklace: [un]possible cuts
earrings: Premier Jewelry

This is the best that I could do with these photos with my non-existent photo editing skills. I mistakenly had my camera set to manual and didn't realize until later that all of these pictures were super overexposed. I played around on picnik (because I don't have photoshop) for half an hour just trying to get the color of my shirt to show up. Unsuccessful...it's aqua gingham. Let me just state that I am an amateur blogger. Blog design, photo editing, photography, angles, ligthing, fashion. I am just making it up as I go.Thanks for following along as I stumble blindly ahead :)

do they know?

 denim tunic: resale
tights: Target
flats: Old navy
sweater: J Crew clearance
belt: Target
skirt: H&M

This was a sunny weekend that my bright, sunny, deceptively warm apartment tricked me into under-dressing. It was sunny but not near warm enough for this outfit. I wore this to the farmer's market and was mortified to get home and discover that the lining of the skirt had worked it's way up, so as not to cover what it was meant to cover. Granted I had tights on and the lace part of the skirt was in place but still...so embarrassing. It's like those women who wear black legging that are not as opaque as they need to be. I always wonder, do they know that they might as well not be wearing pants, for all those stretched out, too sheer, worn through leggings are covering?

farewell mop

skirt: J Crew clearance
top: H&M
tights: Anthro clearance
heels: Target
necklace: [un]possible cuts

This was taken last week, before I got a long overdue haircut. It had been 7 months and my hair had definitely gone into mop territory. It looks much more tidy and neat now but as always there is a part of me that misses the overgrown, tangled mess it had become.

Valentine's my dear

top: Kohl's sale
skirt: J Crew clearance
shoes: Jeffery Campbell (Nordstrom Rack)
doe necklace: [un]possible cuts

Happy Belated Valentine's Day, my dears. I threw on as many colors in the pink and red family as possible to get in the spirit. I made little treat bags for my students, who were more excited by the homework passes than the chocolate dipped pretzels. After school I met a friend for a sappy, romantic movie. It was lovely. Hope yours was too ;)
