Valentine's my dear

top: Kohl's sale
skirt: J Crew clearance
shoes: Jeffery Campbell (Nordstrom Rack)
doe necklace: [un]possible cuts

Happy Belated Valentine's Day, my dears. I threw on as many colors in the pink and red family as possible to get in the spirit. I made little treat bags for my students, who were more excited by the homework passes than the chocolate dipped pretzels. After school I met a friend for a sappy, romantic movie. It was lovely. Hope yours was too ;)

dress: Target clearance
fur collar: H&M

jacket: GAP clearance
belt: H&M

I am very excited that I learned how to automatically have pictures post with a uniform width. Sadly, it only highlights how mediocre my camera phone is. sigh.

I felt like I should be yodeling and climbing a mountain with a goat. Between the hair and the fur and the sweet, demure dress...this outfit was a bit costume-y, which I like. It's hard to tell with these crappy photos but the tights have little red polka dots on them. There is no way I was going to not like this outfit...polka dots, pleats, sheer. Oh how I love girly details!

Not the 4th

 skirt: H&M
top: Anthro clearance
platforms: Jeffery Campbell
hella necklace: [un]possible cuts

Despite my color combo here, this is not what I wore on the 4th of July. This morning, because I am incapable of sleeping in (barring heavy sedatives), I was up before 7am. I had perfect Saturday plans...meeting up with some girlfriends of grab brunch and walk the farmer's market. But since all other normal, single adults sleep in on the weekend, I had a few hours to kill until I could text them to meet up. So I did laundry, cleaned my apartments and FINALLY hung some pictures.

This outfit is loose and flowy enough to be comfortable but still cute. It's actually too shapeless for a someone curvy like myself. I thought I could pull it off because the skirt is so short but I won't be putting these two together again. I think shorts would have been a better fit with this top.

I had the most delicious brunch EVER! Burrata, heirloom tomatoes and basil on toast. Words can not fully express the tomatoes and this is from a girl who grew up hating tomatoes with a burning, fiery passion. I am thinking of making another trip down to the farmers market to pick up some tomatoes. Don't yuou just love having a Saturday afternoon of leisure. My time is normally so scheduled that afternoons like this are such a treat. Here's a peek at my morning's efforts. I have a little studio so this shows my "living room" corner.

pink and red all over

 skirt: jcrew clearance
top: Forever 21
belt: H&M
tights: Old Navy
heels: Jeffery Campbell
necklace: Sway

Happy Valentine's Day! I went all out with the pinks and reds today because...well why not get in the spirit of things. My students showered me with roses of all kinds. I got a real rose, a fake rose, a chocolate rose, and tons of "roses are red" poems. They are so sweet! My favorites though were the handwritten Valentine's Day notes they kept sneaking on to my desk all day long :) Cute cute cute!!! My day ended with a sappy, romantic, giggling and cryng the whole way through kind of a movie with a lovely, dear friend. Wonderful day!

And just because...a sneak peek at my newest Unpossible Cuts necklace. Love, love, love!

bang bang

dress: Vintage
belt: H&M
cardigan: Target
 platforms: Jeffery Campbell
necklace: gift

Here it is! The new hair :) I have been wanting to go back to more blunt bangs for a while now. Cut my hair short a few years ago and as I have been growing it out, I grew my bangs out. I have been waiting for my hair to get long so I could cut them. I am happy with how it turned out. I needed a change and I am finding that it is changing how my clothes look on me. I pass my reflection and wonder, "who is that, with the bangs?" I am not quite used to this new look yet but I do like it.

tired but fancy

Tired doesn't even begin to cover it. I wanted to get this up though. This is my "I'm going to the city to get my hair cut" outfit. I felt fancy :) Also, a few different bloggers like Kendi of Kendi Everyday and Katy of Kansas Couture have done this orange, pink, red look. I've been wanting to give it a try.

Tada!

Beauty

skirt: Anthro clearance
button up: Pac Sun
platforms: Jeffery Campbell from Nordstrom Rack
belt, earrings: Target

Confession. I love the show Glee. Love love. I just finished watching last night's episode on Hulu. It was on accepting the parts of you that you hate. Well, I have a very noticible mole on my face, by my mouth. I've had it forever and I hated it growing up. Oh, I was so self conscious about it and dreamed of having it removed when I grew up. This was the late 80s early 90s and adults would tell me that it was like the supermodel Cindy Crawford. I would just think to myself, "Yeah and it's ugly on her too" I can remember my dad telling me that they are beauty marks and they show up on your body to mark where you are beautiful. I still hated it.
The thing is, people are right. As I grew up I accepted my beauty mark and even like how it makes me different. Some things you just figure out in time.

if it ain't broke

dress: vintage from New Bohemia
cardigan: GAP
tights: Old Navy
belt: H&M
platforms: Jeffery Campbell from Nordstrom Rack

I have got Spring Break on the brain. I can't blame my kids at all for being squirrely, actually they have been great. But I am so ready for a nice long week off. I'm going to get out of town, hopefully see some PC friends and get some beach time.

Can I sing the praises of New Bohemia enough? I don't think I can. That place rocks. This dress is from Montgomery Wards, remember that place. Is it even around anymore. The tag and label look pretty ancient so I am thinking no. The couple times I have worn this have always been with these sky high platforms. I probably should switch things up next time but they work so well with this dress. And if it ain't broke...

9 year old approved

I was all set to get back on track with Inspiration Thursday. But then I ran errands after work and didn't get home until after dark. I had at least 3 little girls at school tell me they liked my outfit today so you know it was a good one ;) 6year olds have an eye for these things you know. Not only that but the principal told me that the 4th graders are scoping me out daily. Haha As in, "did you see what Ms........was wearing today?" Too funny.

Instead I bring you an outfit that failed to make it online in February. This was a random freak gorgeous day in the middle of cold ass February. I took the opportunity to wear shorts...and thigh highs...and red platforms. What can I say, I got excited to see the sun.

you'll have to take my word that I edited out the most boudoir-y ones. It was dark and the light was best in my room. Meh

Fiction

I woke up this morning feeling sick. ugh! I thought to myself that I would spend the day in bed resting up since I leave for CO tomorrow. However by 10 am I was bored bored bored! How taxing can getting dressed and running errands be??? So I put on my red platforms, that never fail to cheer me up (lets hope they have healing powers as well).

Oh! funny story! Some of my mom's friends in Dallas read my blog and I guess they were discussing it the other day. Well Fiction (nickname, obviously) claimed to have figured out the method to the madness of how I get dressed every day. She said i must just have a butt load of clothes (I don't) and have them scattered all over my room (somewhat true). So in the morning I just get out of bed, throw my body into my closet and put on whatever I land on. Yes, Fiction, this is exactly how I do it! Thankfully I have yet to fall on the mumu, athletic sock, pink stilettos combination. :)

yellow? satin? pleats? yes please!

Oh Monday, you little sneak, how did you get here so fast? Seriously, this weekend flew by. Rather than slinking into the week groggy, messy and bitter. I sashayed in pleats a-swingin, platforms a-clompin, Starbucks in hand. This skirt is another purchase from a month ago that has yet to see the light of day. It was on clearance and I have kept it in the back of my mind, not quite sure how I wanted to wear it. Platforms were a must and considering how much I've been wearing bright primary colors, a blue cardigan and blue polka dot blouse called out to me.
