treasure

wrap: Chico's gift
top: resale no tag
sweater: GAP
skirt: resale
boots: Seychelle's Romance

I have found that I have loved this skirt when I've paired it with a green top. It doesn't look right with much else. However, the cut and length of it are just right...short but not too much, full skirt but a heavy material that I don't have to worry about blowing up ;)
It is a treasure of a resale find.

color outside the lines

When I think of fall colors, I think of the shades of falling leaves and crackling fires. Oranges, browns, reds, deep, rich, warm colors. A bright coral...not your typical fall color. But I have to be honest, with style, I love breaking rules. In my day to day life, I will be the first to label myself a rule follower. But with my clothes, I like to break the rules, color outside the lines. I bought this dress resale the other day. It is not a fall dress and that is doubtless why it remained on the racks. I can see no other reason an Anthropologie dress with the tags still on would not be scooped up. The color and material scream spring or summer. I almost passed it up but I bought it and like many other items (I'm talking to you ballerina skirt and ugly plaid skirt) this dress is now a challenge to me. I will make it work in the fall. Round one...

restored faith

dress: vintage
cardigan: GAP sale
boots: Seychelle's sale
tights/belt: Target
necklace: Sway

Wow! I sure do look dour when I don't smile. I guess that would explain people telling me to smile when I am not. Granted I am, generally, a pretty, smiley person.

I didn't have many photos to choose from because I get nervous when I venture out to take photos. I try to take them as quickly as possible and then run away. So I posted this "dour Aubrey" photo because this blog isn't about, "Oh look at how pretty I am." It's about sharing a love of fashion and expressing myself.

Today my faith in moving and finding good roommates and a lovely place was renewed. This weekend I saw some places in great locations with nice, good people but it just wasn't a fit. I started questioning whether I would have to compromise on things I felt strongly about: having a connection with my roommates vs being a stranger in a room, clean and uncluttered space being the two biggest. But today, oh today, I saw a place that restored my hope. Please let them choose me!!!

wrapped or belted

My Aunt Kathryn drew my name for Christmas and without a single hint from me chose this beautiful, warm and cozy wrap thing. I have no idea what it's called but I love it! I belted it in the morning and layered up with a cardigan under it, as well as gloves and a hat. But by 4 the temperature had warmed up enough for me to shed layers down to my sleeveless dress and the wrap. I am including one picture of it belted but I wasn't happy with how I did it. I haven't taken the time to play around with it. It looked super bulky but it sure was warm. I felt all sorts of matchy matchy yesterday rocking all beige and cream. :)

belted...what do you think? It's not quite right.

unbelted...
