bump week 30

sweater: Motherhood Maternity
leggings: Target
ankle boots: target
jacket: H&M Mama
scarf: J. Crew

I was right. I couldn't find time to take photos last week once I went back to work. Even today, I finally rushed out and realized that by the time I got home, the light would be gone. I snapped my photos in the parking lot so not to miss golden hour. So here I am in week 30 and getting bigger every day. She's growing something like half a pound per week. Ten weeks until my due date and I am running out of clothes that fit. I am going to have to just cycle through the same few maternity outfits each week.

fuschia...fuchsia...fushcia???

 dress: Vintage
necklace: Francesca's
heels: Steve Madden sale

I can never, ever remember how to spell that word! It's one of those words for me. I think it's that it doesn't follow a common spelling pattern or maybe my silly brain refuses to hold on to that tidbit. What are your words that you always misspell? Google search bar just informed me that the first spelling is correct...but firefox spell check is underlining it. Hmmmm firefox says fuchsia but that looks wrong to me. Okay, you must be long past caring but. fun fact, it is fuchsia, named after German botanist Leonhart Fuchs. In America, it is commonly misspelled as fuschia. You can thank yahoo answers for that ;)

This is actually today...I am searching out new photo spots at my new place.

getting it right

 dress: New Bohemia
blouse: Target
wedges: Dolce Vita for Target
pirate bunny pin: Unpossible Cuts

I didn't get to post this yesterday because I was far too busy sneezing my brains out. Yuck! I have loved this dress despite never really like the ways I have worn it. I think I have been trying too hard to frump it up or toughen up the overwhelming amount of pink polka dots. This is the first time that I have liked an outfit with this dress. Hooray!
Oh, and I am wearing my new bunny pin to death. Love it, love it, love it!

restored faith

dress: vintage
cardigan: GAP sale
boots: Seychelle's sale
tights/belt: Target
necklace: Sway

Wow! I sure do look dour when I don't smile. I guess that would explain people telling me to smile when I am not. Granted I am, generally, a pretty, smiley person.

I didn't have many photos to choose from because I get nervous when I venture out to take photos. I try to take them as quickly as possible and then run away. So I posted this "dour Aubrey" photo because this blog isn't about, "Oh look at how pretty I am." It's about sharing a love of fashion and expressing myself.

Today my faith in moving and finding good roommates and a lovely place was renewed. This weekend I saw some places in great locations with nice, good people but it just wasn't a fit. I started questioning whether I would have to compromise on things I felt strongly about: having a connection with my roommates vs being a stranger in a room, clean and uncluttered space being the two biggest. But today, oh today, I saw a place that restored my hope. Please let them choose me!!!

the thing about updos

Yesterday never made it up. I was having issues. Here's my superficial problem...I love fancy, quirky updos. Messy, sleek, complicated, simple, whatever. I love them. I love playing around with my hair, trying to master them. I consider this a result of being raised by my mom, who could give a crap about hairstyles and had me doing my own pigtails as soon as I could grip the brush.I'm pretty good with hair. The kicker is that updos look awful on me! I do not have the face shape or hairline or head size for updos. Boo life's cruel sense of humor! After almost 30 years I pretty much know what looks good on me and what doesn't (okay I am still learning) and hair up = look stupid. I know this, yet I never give up trying to find styles that look good on me. I came across this awesome twisted braid look on Sidewalk Ready and was obsessed! After numerous attempts I finally was able to coax my locks into a semblance of her awesomeness. However, while it looked amazing, it did not look amazing on me (sad face).

Anywho, I took photos and selected the one where the angle was more flattering. All of the ones where my head looks abnormally large for my body, were sent to the recycle bin, never to see the light of your computer screen. Your welcome.

vintage wannabe

So I like vintage dresses but i just haven't found a bay area vintage, resale shop that I adore. Scratch that, I haven't even found one to frequent. So anything vintage I own I buy from my FAVORITE place in Austin. I make my sister take me there every time i make it to Austin for a visit. New Bohemia Retro Resale. It's wonderful. Anything I buy there I get complimented on EVERY time I wear it. This dress is no exception. When random people in Walgreen's refer to you as the "lady in the pretty pink dress", you can't help but smile.

I wanted to wear this dress today but it's been chilly so i was stuck on how to layer it up. Last night I was trying to decide: What color tights, what shoes, what sweater? I got my roommate in on it and she pointed out that it was going to be in the 70's. Problem solved for now. I was just reading a post by Ordinarily Urbane about transition pieces. That is so where I am at right now! I am not ready to pack away my summer clothes. For one, the weather is so schizophrenic that I can still wear my summer clothes. And I just love them so :) As long as the weather indulges me, I'll keep the summer dresses in my circulation.
