bay area layering

dress: Betsy Johnson resale
scarf: Old Navy
jacket: Old Navy
boots: Seychelle
bird necklace: [un]possible cuts

Bay Area weather, while glorious and totally living up to the hype about California, was crazy. Everyday, even in the dead of summer, it would be cold in the morning. So I would leave the house for work all layered up. As the day progressed, I would shed layers like a flower losing petals. First the scarf would go, tossed over my chair. Then my jacket would be discarded and if I were wearing a heavier base piece like this little Betsy Johnson resale score, my hair would go up in a bun to get it off my neck. Then this process would repeat in reverse as the sun went down. Layers reapplied as the temp dropped with the setting sun. I have no idea what to do with all these layering skills here in Texas.

sneaky sneaky

Don't tell, but I am NOT supposed to be up here. And I know this. But seriously, when you have a beautiful rooftop with sweeping scenic views, you bend/break the rules. You creep quietly up the staircase that is off limits, unlatch the chain barring the doorway, ignore the sign telling you to stay off the roof, push open the door, and step outside. At least that is what you do until you get caught :) Then, well I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
I am happy to have found a new photo location. Even if I do have to be sneaky to utilize it. I also have, on loan, a new camera. I am using my sister's digital camera again. Being able to use a tripod makes things so much easier than having to find places to prop my camera phone.

Yesterday, I pulled out two items that have typically been part of my fall wardrobe. This yellow pleated skirt was a favorite of mine year before last and I have worn these Romance boots to death. I have always tucked tops into skirts as leaving things untucked isn't usually flattering on me. Like I mentioned the other day shapeless and curves aren't a good match. Definition and structure are best. That being said, I found that this looked better left untucked. Could be that the sheerness paired with a lacy bandeau underneath left less to the imagination ;)

happy coincidence

 dress: Anthro clearance
boots: Romance by Seychelle's

I love my new [un]possible cuts necklace. I went to see their new stuff the other day and immediately honed in on this colorful piece. And wasn't it a happy coincidence that it looks perfect with my new $19 Anthro clearance dress. I know, I know. Shocking that I could find ANYTHING in that store under $50. I swear they sell socks that cost more than most of my shoes. I totally lucked out when I went shopping to spend my birthday money (thanks Dad and Beth and Grandma and Grandpa)

year round sequins

So I know that just yesterday I posted an outfit inspired by the stylish Keiko Lynn, but I actually wore that a week ago. Yesterday I wore this outfit, which ironically, was also inspired by another of her outfits. I feel like a total stalker but luckily blogs are intended to be followed so that makes stalking her blog totally acceptable. :)
During the holidays I went sequin crazy buying way more sequined items than any one person needs. Since the holiday parties ended and I have been reluctant to stow away my bedazzled clothing, I have been trying to find ways to rock my sequins on a day to day basis. Enter this outfit.

treasure

wrap: Chico's gift
top: resale no tag
sweater: GAP
skirt: resale
boots: Seychelle's Romance

I have found that I have loved this skirt when I've paired it with a green top. It doesn't look right with much else. However, the cut and length of it are just right...short but not too much, full skirt but a heavy material that I don't have to worry about blowing up ;)
It is a treasure of a resale find.

trends, nails, donuts

 cardigan: Sway
skirt: Target sale
Romance boots: Seychelle's
necklace: Unpossible Cuts
gold nail polish: Sally Hansen, glitter: OPI for Sephora
 Dynamo Donuts
Backwards cardigans have been popping up all over Pinterest and blog-land. I gave it a go this weekend and am still intrigued. This cardigan was not the best, while I did like the detailing at the back. The day was cold and I wasn't able to lose my jacket. Really, I wasn't a huge fan of this outfit. Meh. It happens.
However, this San Francisco necklace from Unpossible Cuts is being worn almost every day. LOVE it!!! As with all my Unpossible Cuts necklaces, this one gets comments almost everywhere I go. These guys are going to be huge and I'll be able to say I knew them way back when. :)
My nails are a result of a super lazy Saturday but came out pretty cool. As you can see, I am not overly concerned with getting them perfect.
And finally, Dynamo Donuts. After all the hype, I am kind of embarrassed to say that they were just alright. Nothing to write home about. I have had better breakfast pastries. Glad I went but won't be going out of my way to go back.

new favorites

coat: GAP sale
fur collar: H&M
belt: Old navy sale
jeans: Target
Romance boots: Seychelles

This coat was actually an exchange. My mom got me clothes from GAP for Christmas and a few items didn't fit. When I went to exchange them I instead found this gorgeous navy coat on massive clearance. I love it belted with this "fur" collar. This may be my new favorite thing to wear. I am not a pants person but I love this look. Now San Francisco needs to actually get cold enough for me to wear this. The day I wore this, it was so warm and I was forced to lose the coat and collar before noon. I would like the sunny weather to stick around until after my sister leaves. She is coming this weekend through Tuesday and has brought the rain just about every time she has been to visit. I am hoping this time the sun holds out.

giraffe...hella

dress: Francesca's Closet clearance
belt: Target
Romance boots: Seychelle's

Picasa is being a butt and refusing to sync the photos for today that I just uploaded, so I here is an outfit I wore last week that didn't make it up. Ahhhhhh, last week, when the weather was nice. I knew it couldn't last, seeing as how it's supposed to be winter. And today was COLD!

Any East Bay folk recognize the design on my necklace? I love it.

9 days!!!

 dress; Old Navy clearance
boots: Seychelle's Romance
tights, socks: Kohl's
belt: Target
scarf: on loan from Erin J
Oh, glorious, amazing, fantastic, undeniably enviable week off of school!! I jerked awake at 7 and frantically grabbed for my phone since my bleary eyes could not make out the numbers on my alarm clock. My heart dropped in panic, which was immediately followed by the realization that it was Saturday. When I remember that this Saturday is the first day in my 9 days of vacation I smiled and blissfully sank back to sleep.

My friend at Unpossible Cuts commented that his necklaces have not been on here in awhile. I wear them all the time but by chance they have not been on the blog much lately. I intend to remedy that beginning right now. if you have not checked out their etsy shop recently go now!! Their stuff is adorable, edgy, clever, and trend-setting all at the same time. I have gotten compliments almost every time I have worn something from them...food truck employees to flight attendants have asked where my necklaces are from. I have my eye on the State Love necklace, to represent where I'm from, and the Hella necklace in honor of where I am now.
