bay area layering

dress: Betsy Johnson resale
scarf: Old Navy
jacket: Old Navy
boots: Seychelle
bird necklace: [un]possible cuts

Bay Area weather, while glorious and totally living up to the hype about California, was crazy. Everyday, even in the dead of summer, it would be cold in the morning. So I would leave the house for work all layered up. As the day progressed, I would shed layers like a flower losing petals. First the scarf would go, tossed over my chair. Then my jacket would be discarded and if I were wearing a heavier base piece like this little Betsy Johnson resale score, my hair would go up in a bun to get it off my neck. Then this process would repeat in reverse as the sun went down. Layers reapplied as the temp dropped with the setting sun. I have no idea what to do with all these layering skills here in Texas.

Instant validation

 dress: Target
jacket: Target
wedges: Target
shockwaves necklace: [un]possible cuts

This outfit felt so effortless and simple but I love that it still looked put together. I totally credit this Isis necklace from [un]possible cuts for polishing up an otherwise casual outfit. I've been wearing it all the time. It's crazy how often I get asked about their necklaces when I wear them. Instant validation :)

scenic route to Burnet

I had been back in Texas and have tons and tons of catching up to do. While I was not posting for the past two weeks, I have been taking outfit photos. I am pretty excited about the two places I took my photos at. Since I have sooooo much catching up to do, I am just going to work my way backwards.

I drove all over central Texas in the 5 days I was there, visiting as many relatives as I could. On Friday I drove from my grandma's house in San Antonio to my stepmom's family in Burnet, Tx. Along 281 I past the most awesome building. I made a u turn and doubled back just to take some outfit photos. You have to agree that it was worth it.

I wish I had more to say but let these uber-teacher outfit photos speak for themselves. I am swamped with state testing this week and next. Wish my little munchkins luck!

rocking the ugly skirt

Since today was Jungle/Tropical Spirit Day at school and I wore this...

I instead belatedly bring you what I wore on Monday...

skirt: Kohl's $8
top: Old Navy
jacket: Target clearance
belt: Kohl's sale
shoes: Dolce Vita for target

I saw this skirt at Kohl's and picked it up to try on. For whatever reason I put it back and my roommate commented on it being ugly or something. Well, I went back and got it. She says ugly, I say cute. I've always liked this midi length on myself and have several dresses this length. We laughed as she gave me crap about how hideous it is and rolled her eyes as I gushed about how adorable my new $8 skirt was. A small part of me kind of wondered if she was right and I decided if I could find at least 5 different ways to wear it, that would justify keeping it. The moment that my roommate said, "I hate to admit it, but you are rocking that ugly skirt" I knew I was keeping it.
