add some sparkle to your Monday

Back to school, back to school, back to school. Waking up this morning wasn't a problem but waking up in a good mood...that didn't happen. Having a whole week off is so nice but it lulls you into this false sense of "I'm independently wealthy and don't have to work" I did enjoy the time off. Once I actually got to school and saw my class, my sunny mood reappeared. This outfit is so cozy yet pretty at the same time. I love the sparkle of the sweater and tights.

Back to School Night

Back to School Night was a success! Even though I probably talked a mile a minute, out of nervousness (ie terror), the parents were great. It is so much more difficult to stand up and talk in front of a room full of adults, than children. Feedback was positive and I feel like I set the tone for a wonderful year.

I wore this dress as a skirt again. Last time I paired it with a green cardigan and tucked a blouse up, held in place with a belt. Today I opted for a grey sweater and instead tucked the top half of the dress down, making it a high-waisted skirt, so I could tuck the shirt in. These darn shoes kill my feet but I continue to wear them.

not so casual Friday

Not feeling so casual today. This is yet another attempt to dress this gorgeous flower print dress down. The chambray shirt did the trick and by knotting it I was able to maintain the pretty silhouette. Success! I have Vickie of Adventures in Fashion to thank for the idea.
Off to Texas tomorrow. So for two glorious days I will be not-so-aubsent-from-Texas. Hot nights and mosquitos here I come!

play with your clothes

This dress has an interesting structure to it. The style of the straps makes it near impossible to dress down. I love the pretty rose pattern of it and really wanted to wear it today. I decided to try tucking the straps down and layering a blouse over it. The blouse was a bit too long so I tucked it up and belted it in place. The tights are actually these sparkly bronze tights turned inside out. Sometimes you just need to get creative with your clothes. I could have easily grabbed something out of my closet and thrown it on but isn't it more fun to play around?
