Party sparkles

cardigan: Banana Republic

tights: Old Navy
socks: Kohl's

I am so behind on this and I figure I have one more day to get my two holiday party outfits posted. I went to two Christmas parties and I really embraced the whole sparkle theme. To my friend Rita's I dressed my sparkles down with some layers. A grey t-shirt under and a cardigan over. I still felt all fancy b/c I wore over the knee socks with fishnets.

Andi's real camera

I am feeling so ridiculously grateful to my little sister, Andi. She graciously agreed to let me borrow her super fancy camera while I continue to contemplate upgrading from my smart phone camera to a real camera. And would you look at these photos!!! Real cameras take pretty amazing pictures. I almost feel like I shouldn't ruin it by telling you that I am pretty sure I am standing on a landfill in these pictures. But, obviously I am unable to keep things to myself and there we are. Landfill. Yup. Standing on one.

But the view from the landfill sure is pretty.

Purple haze

 dress: H&M
cardigans: Target
tights:Kohl's
hawk wedges: Seychelle's

EBEW colored tights. I felt alittle bummed about this challenge b/c I didn't have any fun new tights to wear. My drawer is packed full on last winter's tights in the same, old colors I've worn and worn and worn. I can't really justify buying new tights though, when I already have so many pairs. I have never pair these tights with this polka dot dress. I have usually worn this dress as a top but today I wanted a light colored, short dress to show these purple tights off. In these chilly temps I added a purple button-up layered under the dress.

wine stain

 dress: H&M
cardigan: Banana Republic resale
flats: Target
necklace: Unpossible Cuts
purse: gift from Jaynet :)

Napa wine tasting at V.Satui. I was the driver and I managed to spill wine on my dress within seconds of sitting down on our lovely little picnic blanket. I have always belted this dress since it is quite full because of all the layers. I felt kind of like I was wearing a tent. And that if the breeze picked up this dress would fly up over my head. Luckily that did not happen. However, I am pretty sure I repeatedly flashed the world every time I got on or off our blanket.

Back to School Night

Back to School Night was a success! Even though I probably talked a mile a minute, out of nervousness (ie terror), the parents were great. It is so much more difficult to stand up and talk in front of a room full of adults, than children. Feedback was positive and I feel like I set the tone for a wonderful year.

I wore this dress as a skirt again. Last time I paired it with a green cardigan and tucked a blouse up, held in place with a belt. Today I opted for a grey sweater and instead tucked the top half of the dress down, making it a high-waisted skirt, so I could tuck the shirt in. These darn shoes kill my feet but I continue to wear them.

**Sorry for the weird grainy photos...indoor photos at 10 pm. sigh, long day

another baby step

dress: Erin Featherston for Target resale
cardigan: Target
tights: target
wedges: Seyhelle's Hawk wedges on sale

So I got up the nerve to go beyond the front gate of my house to take my photos!!!! I knew I was going to have to go straight from one job to another today. It was as good a reason as any to make myself push beyond my comfort zone and take outfit photos in public. True, these are in a secluded place and no one was around but it's a step. Another baby step. I was so paranoid the whole time that someone would walk by or see me. I hardly looked at the camera because I was so busy scanning for passersby. It will get easier I hope.

back in the classroom

skirt: GAP clearance
cardigan, boots, necklace: Target
button up: Old Navy clearance
tights; Kohl's

Is anyone super excited to see classroom shots again???

anyone?

no?

Awwwwww...I just can't get out the door in time to take outfit photos at home. I know the glorious scenery of the stucco walls of my building is vastly more visually stimulating than my student's art work. :) The glamorous peeling paint and maroon painted cement are striking beyond belief. And the weeds up on the terrace...lovely!!!!

Alright, I'll admit it... I do not have the guts to take my pictures beyond the gate of my building or to step outside of my classroom. There are bloggers I follow whose style isn't really my taste but who take amazing pictures. Then there are bloggers whose style I adore whose photos leave something to be desired.
I could choose a better setting myself but I am just not in a position to do that right now. Hopefully you can appreciate this for what it is :)

aubsent from here

I have been lagging on here and time has gotten away from me. Today was a busy day of working, hanging with friends, and even a jog around the lake. I have a moment before I need to get ready for work tonight so I took some photos to post.

This dress is so darn adorable but I just can't make it work for me. i am never really happy with how I've worn it. It might just not be my style. However, for today it was just what I wanted. Loose and comfy. I wore it with flats, gray tights, and a gray cardigan.

Round 3 with the ballerina skirt

After being so excited about this skirt and failing miserably the first time I wore it, I have taken it as a challenge to make this skirt work. I wore it here and somewhat redeemed myself. Yesterday I wore it with these two cardigans (my new favorite thing) and my new black oxford wedges. I think this skirt shrinks each time I wash it. A few more trips thru the wash and it is not going to cover the necessary areas at all!!! Then I will have to retire it and I'll be sad :(

Another round of photos in the chair. It's only fair to disclose that I will never pass up the chance to take photos in this chair. Anytime I am home during the day and need to take outfit photos, I will be taking them in this chair. Just throwing that out there.

After reading about PikaPika, japanese photo booth stickers, I finally went last week with my roommate and sister. Oh my goodness! It was awesome! We went back this weekend. We made a card for my friend and had way too much fun doing so :)

In the evening I got dressed up to attend my good friends' birthday dinner. My roommate and I took silly photos before we left the house.

J Crew and I are now frenemies

I have long admired this fuchsia pencil skirt. I believe Kendi Everyday included it in her most recent 30 for 30. But, seeing that it was from J Crew, I immediately put it in the category of way out of my price range. I have never bought anything from J Crew. Even their clearance rack is too pricey for my miserly shopping habits (I shop often, but I shop cheap). I consider it fate that with a friend I happened to go into J Crew (with no intention to buy) and stumbled upon this amazing skirt, in my size, on clearance. Even on clearance it was more than I would typically spend on a skirt. But it is a beautiful, well made piece of clothing and I decided that it must be mine.

So YAY!!!!!!!

And TA DA!!!!!!

Inspired by: Orchid Grey

Every Thursday I am going to try to post an outfit inspired by one of the lovely, fashionable ladies I follow online.

I was so excited about this and couldn't wait for Thursday. I loved an outfit worn by Julie of Orchid Grey last week and I had been seeing similar little ballerina skirts all over the place. I finally bought one and couldn't wait to wear it. Then Thursday rolled around and I got dressed and this outfit looked great in the mirror. Adorable. But when I went outside to take pictures, it looked awful on the camera! Boo! Everything about it. The sweater, the thick belt, the color of the tights, the socks, the shoes. Just all around bad choices. I added a scarf and liked it a bit more. I should have started from scratch but it was Thanksgiving and I was super late for dinner at my roommate's family house. No time. I just wore it and felt blah.

I feel like there should be a lesson here but I have no idea what it is. This ballerina skirt and I are not friends. This is a challenge now. I am going to find a way to wear it. Another day, another outfit.
