Inspired by: Orchid Grey II

skirt, belt, shoes: Target
tights: Kohl's
sweater: GAP clearance
fur collar: H&M

This translation would be be called more literal I'd say. As in, I am just straight up recreating one of my favorite outfits Julie of Orchid Grey has worn. I tried once before and wasn't trying to recreate it, just used it as inspiration and I HATED the way it turned out. Now months later, it is still one of my favorite looks so I just had to copy it. There, I said it. I copied her look. I hesitated a half second because of the length and style of the skirt. Not what I would normally wear to teach. But I decided that the opaque tights drew attention away from the shortness and the fur collar added a more mature dimension in contrast to the girlie-ness of a pink ballerina skirt. Once I got to school, I felt totally comfortable. I don't think it was inappropriate at all.

I am so glad I finally got around to wearing this. Such a fun outfit!

as the sun peaks out

jacket, pants: Old Navy Clearance
boots: Steve Madden clearance
sweater: GAP clearance
blouse: Nordstrom Rack cleanace

I have to say this weather is KILLING me! Ugggggghhhhhh! I wish the rain and gloom would give it a rest! I am so tired of being cold. Tired of sleeping in my Uggs. I'm over it. Unfortunately the forecast for the week says that it hates me because the rains gonna keep on coming. So here is me embracing the cold, drizzily weather. Boots, pants, layers, "fur". Okay, I give in. This is me wearing something appropriate. Suck it rain.

the crazy talking

I saw Black Swan tonight. Yes I am one of those losers and ignores all the buzz about a movie until it wins all sorts of awards. Wow, it was intense. I think my body was tensed up in discomfort for her the entire movie.
Today I was totally feeling the need for something floaty and feminine. This skirt is a dress I bought a few years back at Forever 21. Oh, Forever 21 with your super affordable clothes that shrink up and fall apart all too quickly. No idea how this dress has held up this long. Probably because it was relegated to the back of my closet for a year. Welcome back to the rotation little white dress. After that movie my brain is wiped. I am talking to Forever 21 and my dress via my blog. Oh, it's time for bed.

indecisiveness

I was super indecisive today. I got dressed, changed, changed back. Then went outside to take photos. Looked at the photos, then went back inside and changed again!! Sometimes you try to make something work and it just doesn't. It just big, fat doesn't. I probably should have just chosen something else entirely and started from scratch but I'm a stubborn one. So now I have two sets of outfit photos. I need some feedback. Which one works...or perhaps neither does. That's okay too.
I felt like wearing this maxi dress as a skirt today. I first paired it with a white top with yellow stripes, a marigold cardigan, a belt and a beanie. Then I felt like I had too much yellow and orange going on...kind of like the sun threw up all over me. Here it is...

dress (worn as skirt): Macy's
top: H&M
Cardigan: GAP clearance
belt: Target
boots: Seychelles

So then I tried to tone it down. I lost the belt and beanie. I switched the all the yellow for a tan sweater and added a coral necklace.

sweater: GAP clearance
necklace: Crossroads

So what do you think? I am incapable of decisions today :( On a side note I go back to work tomorrow after 3 weeks of leisure. Sadly, the midday chair photos will be coming to an end so I need to throw a few more in for good measure :)

Inspired by: keiko lynn

I saw this outfit earlier in the week and absolutely loved it! The drapey skirt and black sweater could easily be Grandma-ish. But add black tights and some serious heels and it changes the whole look. It totally wowed me when I saw keiko wear it on her blog. I had to copy her! :)

Sorry for the grainy photos. This is what happens when I play around with Picasa. :(

California and Wells Fargo

I haven't posted on Friday in a while because I lately have been doing jeans and school sweatshirt, as does most of the staff. But with Friday being my double day, it is just easier to wear as much black as possible. That way I don't have to bring a change of clothes. So today I wore almost exactly the same thing I wore back in November, the last time I posted on a double Friday. ---So I just checked and I have no idea what I am talking about. I have posted on a number of Fridays. I do this all the time, state something completely false as if it is fact. I am rolling my eyes at myself right now. Like the time my sister was visiting and needed a Wells Fargo. I informed her that I was pretty sure there were no Wells Fargo's in California. I'm an idiot because we immediately began noticing Wells Fargo's on every freaking corner of town.

So anyways, I've worn basically this exact outfit before. I just changed out a black cardigan for a black sweater.

Denver to Dallas

Over the break I went home by way of Denver. I flew to Denver and then drove with my best friend to Dallas. 13 hours in a car could only be bearable with a super close friend. Luckily Shannan is the best of friends and we traveled thru Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, and into Texas with out wanting to kill each other. It took lots and lots of coffee but we made it.
This is the outfit I wore on the flight to Denver. Shan laughed at the fact that I got dressed up to fly but my stategy is the wear as much of my clothing on the plane as possible. That way I have more room in my suitcase. I wear bulkier items like boots or dresses and then layer it up. I am definitely layered up here.
